Ottimale EM Completes 2027 Driver Line-Up: Jan Wiegels Joins, Stefan Schubert Stays
Ottimale EM has finalized its plans for the 2027 VFC season: Jan Wiegels will join the team next year, taking over the cockpit of the departing Tim Hauck. At the same time, the team is focusing on continuity by confirming that Stefan Schubert will remain with Ottimale EM for another season.
With Wiegels, Ottimale EM is bringing in an experienced driver who is looking for a fresh start after a difficult campaign so far. While Schubert has been an integral part of the team since its foundation, Wiegels is expected to bring fresh momentum and fill the gap left by Hauck's departure.
Seifert: "I Am Convinced He Will Be the Perfect Replacement for Tim Hauck"
Team principal Roy Seifert is extremely pleased with the driver pairing for 2027, emphasizing both his confidence in Stefan Schubert and his high expectations for newcomer Jan Wiegels:
"Stefan has been an important part of this team since 2025. He has been with us since Ottimale EM was founded and has always been very reliable. Even though his results may not reflect his true value, I have never questioned whether we should keep Stefan or replace him. I'm really happy that Schubert Senior will be back behind the wheel of our car next year!
I've known Jan for several years, both as a competitor in the VFC and as a teammate in endurance racing at Falcon. He will certainly need some time to settle in, but with the right team behind him, Jan is a very good and consistent driver.
I'm convinced that he will be the perfect replacement for Tim Hauck."
Their shared history in endurance racing should provide a solid foundation for Wiegels and Seifert. At the same time, Seifert's clear commitment to Schubert highlights that reliability and trust are just as important to Ottimale EM as results on track.
Wiegels: "For Me, It's a Complete Fresh Start"
Jan Wiegels hopes that his move to Ottimale EM will mark a new beginning and is looking forward to focusing more on his driving:
"Short and simple: Fabi forced me! 😄 Just kidding. I'm really looking forward to racing for Ottimale.
It's great that I can continue to benefit from Fabian's expertise and the guys at Optiminal, since we're working together in a partnership. And to be honest, I also won't have the stress of running a team anymore. 😄 That means I can focus more on driving.
For me, it's a complete fresh start. The season hasn't been going well, and I think a change of scenery will do me good."
Thanks to the partnership with Optiminal Esports, Wiegels will continue to have access to valuable technical expertise. At the same time, stepping away from his previous responsibilities as team principal could allow him to concentrate fully on his performances behind the wheel.
Schubert: "I'm Looking Forward to Having Jan as My New Teammate"
Stefan Schubert is also looking forward to the upcoming season and thanked team principal Roy Seifert for the trust he has placed in him:
"I'm happy to be staying with Ottimale. I'd like to thank Roy for sticking with me, and I'm looking forward to having Jan as my new teammate."
Despite some challenging periods on track, Schubert remains an integral part of Ottimale EM. His experience and reliability are expected to contribute to the team's success in 2027.
With Jan Wiegels and Stefan Schubert, Ottimale EM's driver line-up for 2027 is now complete. While Wiegels is looking for a fresh start after a difficult year, Schubert will continue his long-standing partnership with the team.
One thing is clear: Ottimale EM is combining proven continuity with fresh momentum for the upcoming season. Whether this combination will pay off and help the team take a step forward in 2027 remains to be seen on track.
