After the upgrades introduced for Qatar, the development race in VFC continues straight into the next round. Ahead of the Japan GP, three teams have activated new upgrade stages and made further progress. The focus is clearly on aerodynamics.

Blue Horns Racing – more downforce

Blue Horns Racing brings a targeted aero upgrade to Japan:

  • Downforce: 5 → 6

A clear step aimed at improving the overall package and pushing the car further forward in terms of grip and stability.

Ottimale EM – a broader upgrade package

Ottimale EM makes progress in two areas at once:

  • Downforce: 5 → 6

  • Drag: 5 → 6

That gives Ottimale the most extensive upgrade package ahead of the Japan GP. The team is investing in both increased downforce and improved efficiency, underlining its intent to keep pushing hard in the development race.

VEGA – focus on Drag

VEGA has also upgraded once again ahead of Japan:

  • Drag: 6 → 7

It is a targeted step that shows VEGA is continuing along its chosen development path and still working to improve the overall package. Thanks to engineer Artjom Vassiliev, the team receives this upgrade free of charge, giving VEGA additional room for further development.

While most of the grid has made no further changes ahead of the Japan GP, Blue Horns Racing, Ottimale EM and VEGA are sending another clear signal in the development race. It is yet another reminder that VFC 2026 will not be decided on track alone, but also through the continued development of each team’s package.
