The VFC may currently be in its summer break, but the paddock is anything but quiet. With the 2027 driver market beginning to take shape, several names have already emerged at the centre of the latest speculation.

From possible moves involving Tim Hauck, Heiko Kolvenbach and Jan Wiegels to teams stepping up their preparations for next season, here are the latest stories from around the Virtual Formula Championship.

Hauck in talks with Blue Horns

Tim Hauck’s options for the 2027 VFC season are beginning to become clearer, with the current Ottimale driver understood to have held talks with Blue Horns over a potential move.

Hauck has already confirmed that he will leave Ottimale at the end of the 2026 campaign, making him one of the more interesting names currently available on the driver market.

While Blue Horns has now emerged as a possible destination, Optiminal Esports is still believed to be the most likely option for the German. No final decision has been made, however, meaning Hauck’s future could remain one of the key stories of the summer break.

Kolvenbach linked with Razor GP

Heiko Kolvenbach is another driver whose future continues to attract plenty of attention following the announcement that he will leave Optiminal Esports at the end of the season.

The German has repeatedly been linked with a switch to Razor GP, with paddock rumours suggesting that a concrete offer is already on the table.

Nothing has been officially confirmed at this stage, but a move would bring an end to Kolvenbach’s long spell with Optiminal and open a completely new chapter in his VFC career.

With several teams still shaping their 2027 line-ups, Kolvenbach remains one of the biggest names to watch on the driver market.

Could Wiegels return to Falcon?

A familiar face could also be on Falcon’s radar for 2027, with Jan Wiegels being linked with a possible return to the team.

Falcon is currently searching for at least one driver for next season, leaving an open seat within its 2027 line-up. That has naturally led to speculation surrounding Wiegels, who could represent an interesting option for the team.

There is currently no indication that an agreement is close, and concrete details regarding talks between both sides remain limited.

Nevertheless, a Wiegels-Falcon reunion has emerged as another storyline worth keeping an eye on as the driver market continues to develop.

Teams turn their attention to 2027

The 2026 championship may still have plenty of racing left, but preparations for next season are already gathering momentum throughout the VFC paddock.

Several teams have begun working on their 2027 driver line-ups and internal structures, while the first pieces of the new-season puzzle are already starting to fall into place.

With a number of seats still available and several established drivers yet to confirm their plans, further movement is expected over the coming weeks.

The battle on track may currently be on hold, but behind the scenes the race to build the strongest possible package for 2027 is already well underway.

Drivers make the most of the summer break

After an intense opening part of the 2026 season, the VFC paddock is finally enjoying some well-earned time away from the racetrack.

Many drivers are using the summer break to travel, head on holiday and spend time with family and friends. For others, it is simply an opportunity to step away from the competitive environment and recharge before racing resumes.

Whether that means relaxing by the sea, exploring somewhere new or simply enjoying a few quieter weeks at home, the summer break offers a rare chance to switch off during a busy VFC season.

Once the paddock comes back together, however, attention will quickly turn back to the fight on track.
