When the Razor was unveiled for the VFC 2025, the paddock was quite surprised. It was as if Bastian Paisler had sat down after many seasons in midfield and said: ‘That's it, I want to get back on the podium!’. And accordingly, the team boss himself describes his chrome-coloured racer as ‘the best Razor in VFC history’. Accordingly, the question quickly arose as to whether the team would dare to attack the title: ‘Winning one of the two titles will be very difficult against Falcon, Optiminal, Schlüter and Schubert. That's why we want to concentrate on getting regular podiums again and perhaps the occasional victory. You don't always have to win races to have a chance of winning the title... ’, says Paisler.
In order to enhance these chances, Paisler has brought on board the man with whom he has regularly clashed in previous years. Accordingly, many were surprised when Razor announced Fabian Walter as the second driver. Paisler commented with a wink: ‘Well, 2x “”Mr Consistency’' in the team is practically a guarantee for a good position in the K-WM, isn't it? In the end, it worked out that way because we felt like we got in each other's way in every race and always had great duels with the necessary respect... so the chemistry was perfect. Furthermore, we are on a similar, if not almost identical, pace, which also guarantees a good haul of points this year.’
So the official goals of Razor are clear, but Paisler himself naturally also has personal goals. When asked what he wants to do differently this year to become the Mr Consistency of the podiums, the German gives one of his typically sarcastic answers: He wants to drive faster! Otherwise, Paisler continues: "I definitely want to get at least my fourth win this year. Otherwise, I would be very happy with a few podiums.‘’ When asked about his team-mate, who is almost as fast as he is, the man from the Lower Rhine states that he is primarily focussing on scoring maximum points and is therefore refraining from team orders for the time being.
His team-mate is the aforementioned Fabian Walter, who, alongside Sven Schubert, has now emerged as a travelling bird. When asked about this, the German gives a rather explanatory answer: ‘I only left falcon in 2023 because the mod wasn't fun at the beginning (which was fixed after the first race) and that's how I made my comeback at Horizion when I asked Jan if I could use the team. 2024 then the complete comeback with Jan as team boss.’ The decision in favour of Razor was mainly due to the continuous rivalry with Bastian Paisler on the track and a ‘chat’ after a race. Walter wanted to finally see what it would be like with the same material.
His personal goals are in line with those of his team-mate: ‘Victory(s) would be nice, I think it's long overdue. To consistently score good points and who knows what will come out in the end’.
Razor seems to have learnt from the last midfield years in the VFC and has fielded a strong duo with a fast car. Accordingly, Razor and especially team boss Bastian Paisler are keen to attack: ‘The way I see it, both Falcon and Optiminal only have one driver each who can seriously compete for victories and titles (no disrespect to Roy and Jan!)...we, on the other hand, have two who have the potential!’
So the goal seems clear: victories, podiums and at best a title! The season will show whether the chrome-coloured team can back up this claim with results.
