Optiminal starts the 2025 season with a completely new driver pairing

Optiminal is serious this year. Very serious.

This is immediately apparent when you take a look at the team as a whole: The position of team boss has been filled by the successful driver Rouven Meschede. The car is already poised to be one of the best in its development in the first race. And then there are the drivers: Sven Schubert, probably the fastest and most aggressive driver in the VFC, has been brought into the team. And he has been joined by team-mate Roy Seifert, who will make a strong No. 2. The Dutch team literally screams title contender at all levels. And both drivers and the team boss made that clear to us in the interviews:

They want both titles, it's almost self-explanatory and cocky.

And yet it is quite realistic. New team boss Rouven Meschede is also very open about it: ‘I think the goals are clear. We want to fight for the titles this year. With Roy and Sven, we have the opportunity to do both. We will fight for the top 3 in every race with both drivers.’ In fact, the idea of bringing Sven Schubert to Optiminal seems to have been the idea of Roy Seifert, who suggested Schubert, at least according to Meschede.

Sven Schubert has the same attitude going into this interview and the season. He also takes the same approach to the title as his team boss: ‘We know what we and the car can do, so the goals should be self-explanatory.’ The car itself also provides a reason for this optimism, as it drives ‘bombastically well’, according to the Swabian. However, the Swabian does not yet know which direction they want to take with the development. At least in this direction, Optiminal is still showing some weakness. The question remains as to why Schubert went to the Dutch team: ‘I knew that Max no longer had much desire to be team principal and then Rouven came along with his offer and his plan for the future, which convinced me,’ says Schubert.

And his team-mate Roy Seifert? He seems more motivated than ever: ‘I'm very involved with Optiminal, whether as a driver in other series or as team boss of EM as a partner team in the GPVWC. It didn't take much convincing on Rouven's part to get me to join Optiminal as a VFC driver,’ he says. He is ready for a challenge and is looking forward to working with Sven Schubert, which according to him was also the prerequisite for him to come to Optiminal. It was possible to fulfil this wish and Seifert is in a correspondingly good mood so far; he is convinced of his partner. And Seifert's goals? In contrast to the team boss and the No. 1 driver, they are somewhat more modest: ‘I would like to achieve at least one podium this season. Consistently scoring points, that's the most important thing. Otherwise, I'll have to wait and see where I finish, as we have a lot of new faces in the VFC,’ says Seifert.

And so Optiminal is going into the new season with an attack-minded attitude. After wanting to and having established themselves in 2024, they are now launching a major attack on Razor, Blue Horns and, above all, Falcon in 2025. The top dogs from last season are to be toppled and the team is to become No. 1, using all means and all aggression. Meschede as a competent team boss, Schubert as a former world champion and Seifert as a strong support are the large contingent and the Optiminal car is the sharp weapon of the two drivers. And all three also show in their words that they will take no prisoners. Roy Seifert takes a swipe at Falcon: ‘I wish the guys from Falcon every success for the season, we won't make it easy for you!’. And Sven Schubert in his usual open and direct manner: ‘Sunday is finally the start and then it's no longer just the talk from the interviews, but then you also have to walk the walk on the track.’

With all these decisions, preparations and the mentality, one thing is clear: Optiminal wants the title. With all their might.
