Seawolf NetRace Motorsport have long been a familiar name in endurance racing — but in 2026, the team is taking on a new challenge by entering VFC. Team owner Björn Wahlmeier explains the motivation behind expanding into formula racing, while team principal Louis Röhn sets out ambitious targets. A well-known name also returns to the grid: Alex Woitala is back as a full-time driver, bringing his own story and clear expectations for the season.

Hi Björn! A warm welcome to the VFC! Seawolf are best known as an established team in endurance racing. What made you decide to also enter VFC this season?

Björn Wahlmeier:

“Hi everyone, Alex and Louis already have experience in the VFC and are always looking for a new challenge. We were happy to support the drivers’ wish to field a team in the series, as we see the VFC as the ideal opportunity to expand our involvement in the formula racing scene.”

While Wahlmeier outlines the move into VFC from a strategic perspective, the day-to-day sporting responsibility sits with the drivers — first and foremost Louis Roehn, who returns in 2026 not only as a full-time driver, but also as team principal.

Hi Louis, after a long time we’re seeing you back as a full-time VFC driver — and even as team principal for Seawolf NetRace Motorsport. Welcome back! What are your goals as a team this season, and personally for you as a driver?

Louis Roehn:

"Hi, I was never truly gone. 😄

I did make the odd appearance as a reserve driver, but it’s great to be back as a full-time driver and team principal. Our goal for this season is first of all to gain experience, because Seawolf have never taken part in the VFC before.

However, we believe we have two strong drivers and can definitely fight for podiums. So yes, we’re targeting a top 3 finish in the teams’ standings.

My personal goal is to finish inside the top 5 in the drivers’ championship this season.”

Top 3 as a team is a clear statement! Which teams do you see as your direct rivals in the fight for the top 3?

Louis Roehn:

“Definitely — and we have the drivers to fight for it.

Our direct rivals will be Razor GP and Falcon Simracing.”

Alongside Roehn’s return as a full-time driver, another comeback has drawn plenty of attention: Alex Woitala is back on the grid — this time in new colours and without his long-time teammate by his side.

Hi Alex, this season you’re making your comeback as a full-time VFC driver — surprisingly without your long-time teammate Heiko Kolvenbach alongside you. What made you want to get back in the cockpit, and why did you choose a new team with Seawolf of all places?

Alex Woitala:

“After taking a small break from simracing for the last two years — and doing a few races last season as a reserve driver — I realised I was enjoying driving more again. That’s when it became clear to me that I want to compete as a full-time driver this season.

When I made that decision, Heiko had already decided on his team, so I was suddenly without a teammate. Why Seawolf? It’s actually quite simple. My old team, Schubert Motorsport eSport, has since merged with Seawolf. At the same time, Seawolf were interested in the VFC as well, so it was the logical step that I would drive for this team. With Louis Röhn I now have a teammate I already raced with at Schubert, and we got on really well even back then.”

Where do you currently stand performance-wise compared to before your break — is it pace you’re missing, more consistency, or are you already back at your old level?

Alex Woitala:

“That still remains to be seen. I’m also getting a bit older, so of course I’m missing some pace now — we have to be honest about that.

But I’ve generally always been more about consistency in races, and I hope that can be a strength again this season.

Let’s see how I stack up against all the young drivers.”

And one last question: Finish the sentence — Looking back after the final race of the season, the season was a success if …

Alex Woitala:

“..: I had many exciting and fair battles”

With their VFC entry, Seawolf NetRace Motorsport are opening a new chapter: the focus is on building foundations and gaining experience — while still aiming to play a role at the sharp end early on. Louis Roehn names a top 3 finish in the teams’ standings as the target and identifies Razor GP and Falcon Simracing as direct competition. After his time away, Alex Woitala brings consistency and racecraft as key strengths — and sets his personal benchmark clearly around “exciting and fair battles”. How quickly Seawolf can turn their debut season into a real statement will become clear in the opening races.
