Optiminal Esports has further finalized its line-up for the 2027 VFC season: Sven Schubert will remain with the team for another year. With that, Optiminal is focusing on continuity and confirming a driver who has become one of the defining figures of the team in recent years.
Following the departure of Heiko Kolvenbach and the signing of Fabian Szyrzik, Schubert’s future was one of the most important personnel questions surrounding Optiminal Esports. Now it is clear: the German driver will remain part of the team and will continue to race for Optiminal in 2027.
Meschede: “The Final Piece of the Puzzle for 2027”
Team principal Rouven Meschede was delighted with the contract extension and believes Optiminal is strongly positioned for the upcoming season:
“The final piece of the puzzle for 2027! Sven will remain with Optiminal next year! We are incredibly happy to keep our champion in the team.
The past two years have been extremely successful for both sides, and that is why we want to continue this shared story. Sven stands out in particular through his impressive consistency and his ability to make the perfect overtaking move at the decisive moment.
With Sven and Fabi, we have an extremely strong line-up for 2027. That also makes our goal for the upcoming season clear: we want to fight for the championship!”
For Optiminal, Schubert’s stay is an important sign of stability. Especially in a phase where the team is reshaping its driver line-up, Schubert remains a central pillar. His experience, consistency, and role within the team are likely to form an important foundation for Optiminal’s sporting ambitions in 2027.
Schubert: “Optiminal Has Become Like a Second Family to Me”
Sven Schubert also made it clear that not extending his contract was never really a question for him. Staying with Optiminal is not only a sporting decision, but also an emotional one:
“For me, there was never any question of not extending my contract. I feel incredibly comfortable at Optiminal, and the team has become like a second family to me.
As always, the goal for 2027 is to win both titles. Heiko will of course be missed by the team, both personally and as a driver, but I believe we have put together the strongest Optiminal line-up in the team’s VFC history for next season.”
With Schubert and Szyrzik, Optiminal Esports will head into the 2027 season with a newly formed but highly ambitious driver duo. While Schubert stands for continuity, experience, and proven strength, Szyrzik brings additional technical expertise and fresh impulses to the team.
One thing is clear: Optiminal Esports has assembled its 2027 line-up with a clear ambition. After several successful years together, the team wants to continue its story with Sven Schubert — and fight for the championship once again with the new Schubert/Szyrzik pairing.
