Chris Gitsov leaves Rookie Monsters at the end of the season

Rookie Monsters will see a change in its driver line-up at the end of the current VFC season: Chris Gitsov will leave the team after this season. It marks the end of a partnership that played an important role in Rookie Monsters’ debut campaign — not least because of the team’s first victory in the VFC.

Gitsov himself reflected honestly on the current situation and his role within the team:

"I myself wasn't particularly useful as a teammate so in a way it was to be expected that next season there'd be changes. I am not sure yet what I'll do next season yet, but I am excited to see what the future holds for me!"

For Rookie Monsters, Gitsov’s departure is an important decision with the future in mind. The team has already made a strong statement in its first VFC season and achieved more with a race win than it may have expected before the year began. At the same time, it became clear over the course of the season that the current driver pairing would not be the ideal foundation for the team’s long-term development.

Team principal Robin Moelling also shared clear and respectful words on the upcoming departure:

“I am very grateful to Chris for the work he has done. He had a positive influence on the development of the car and brought a lot of experience into the season, which benefited both of us. A victory in our first season as a team in the VFC is more than we ever thought we were capable of.

That puts him in an exclusive club within the VFC, and he fully deserved that win. It was a performance that showed what a good driver Chris can be when he invests the necessary time. I hope he will be able to show that level of performance again in the future.

Ultimately, however, we both had to recognize that the driver pairing as it currently stands is not sustainable for the future. On the one hand, I need a teammate with whom I can communicate almost blindly. On the other hand, I need someone who is able to invest the necessary time so that we can continue to push each other forward. Unfortunately, Chris does not currently have that time available.

Our goal now has to be to keep optimizing this final phase of the season and continue scoring points consistently. I know that I can rely on Chris until the end of the season and that he will do everything he can to help us beat our rivals in the team standings.”

With Gitsov’s departure, Rookie Monsters faces an exciting personnel question for the upcoming season. The team has already proven in its first VFC campaign that it is capable of fighting for strong results. The key question now is who will take the cockpit alongside Moelling and which direction Rookie Monsters will take for next season.

One thing is clear: the shared story between Chris Gitsov and Rookie Monsters is coming to an end with mutual respect — and with the goal of finishing the current season in a clean and successful way.
