New design = same success ?
New design = same success ?

Last year's surprise team, Blue Horns, shown especially at the start of the season with victories and podiums. This secured second place in the constructors' championship, an excellent result that they would of course like to repeat this year. The competition has become strong, and there has also been a change in the Blue Horns line-up. Szyrzik, Meister and Dylan Fisher, who all sat in the second cockpit last year, were replaced by the talented Norwegian Magnus Okkenhaug.

Changes that are obviously the norm at Blue Horns every year:

"Absolutely. Last year I was well aware that Fabian would no longer be available at a certain point. And in Dylan Fisher I had a good replacement. And yet I was still unsure about all of this. And the search for a driver this season has been very stressful so far, which is why I hope that in Magnus I now have a driver who will stay with the team for the whole season and maybe beyond. But I'm quite optimistic about that," says Blue Horns boss Dicks.

There are also changes in the engine department. After a long and close partnership, Volksmobil and Blue Horns are going their separate ways. A farewell that will certainly come as a surprise to some, especially after last year's upward trend. But perhaps it is also an opportunity for the team to consolidate its position as a top team:

Comment Jörn Dicks: "The last few years have been up and down, but I am very happy that we had a great finish together with Volksmobil in 2024. I wish VM every success with the new teams, but at the same time I'm really looking forward to working with Gerard."

Let's move on to the team boss, who is also the driver. Dicks is sticking to his goal from last year, podiums and the top 5. Ambitious, but absolutely realistic.

In fact, like every season, I'm going into the season with the same goals: I want to get on the podium again. 2024 was great at the beginning, but I quickly lost momentum during the season! I can hardly wait for Sunday!"

The team atmosphere is positive, so it's easy to work hard to continue to be successful. Dicks was also positive about his new driver Magnus Okkenhaug. Okkenhaug is particularly distinguished by his reliability and strong speed, as long as the car suits his driving style.

Magnus is a very strong driver who has done a lot of good work in the GPVWC so far and has shown what he can do. If the car and the opportunities are right, he is an incredibly fast driver who can cause one or two surprises.

Let's ask Magnus directly what he expects from his new team and the VFC and what his goals are!

"Hey Magnus, thanks for having a talk with us. What convinced you to drive for Blue Horns? What do you think of Jörn as a boss and as a teammate?"

"What convinced me was first and formost the car, how good it felt to drive after testing it. Also that i could rely on a stable and a competetive team like Blue Horns which have been a part of VFC which brings valueable experience on the table"

"What are your goals for this season?

What do you think is possible with the Blue Horns car?"

"My goals for his season is to finish races with minimal DNF’s where i’d like to compete inside the top 10 for most of the races. Otherwise i take each race as they go, one by the time, so we will see where we stand after round 1 and move on/go from there"

"In this season, we have a few new faces on the grid, some of them you know from other series. We could say, there is a battle of the rookies. You think you can win that battle?"

"We will have to wait and see. There is alot of strong rookies this year which i have past racing experience with, so i reckon the competition there will be super tough and close"

"My last question for you: Anything else you want to tell us or the grid?"

"Not much appart from i’m not here to make up to entry numbers and that i’m not affraid to get stuck into battles out on track!"

"Ok great! Thanks and we will see you on track!"

Magnus brings a fresh wind to the VFC, aggressive but still realistic when it comes to his own assessment. Blue Horns is leaving old burdens behind and going into battle with new faces and a new engine. Let's hope for our Austrians that these changes do not turn out to be flops.
